The vision
Many years ago, I discovered SnapperHead, a Mac OS X on-demand screen capture server. Itaka is meant to be a Linux port of SnapperHead.
Back then, showing my buddies on an instant messenger what I was doing was a cumbersome experience: Taking a screenshot, saving, and sending it. Me and my friends could not satisfy our voyeuristic impulses of knowing what the other was doing on his computer real-time.
Long story short, Itaka for Linux was born. I am not going to explain the history of Itaka's development, I am only going to summarize it to this: Itaka took more than 4 years to have a stable initial release. Why so long?, well, all works of art take their time to reach perfection.
In conclusion, Itaka's vision is simple, provide a beautiful and elegant interface to a web server that satisfies one's voyeuristic impulses.
